Where HotTea Mama teas come from
HotTea Mama is a small business run by 5 women in Oxfordshire. Though we are small, we are mighty, and we really care about where our teas come from! Here's a bit of an insight into what goes into a HotTea Mama cuppa...one that is nourishing, tasty and as good for mother nature as the mums who drink it.
The Brains Behind The Tea
Bethan and Kate set up HotTea Mama in 2017, inspired by their life experience and Bethan's career in tea.
Kate had 2 children in the space of a year, and now has 3 in total. She had the original idea to make teas to support women's wellness, as she asked Bethan a lot about teas to support pregnancy, breastfeeding and post-partum when she had her first kids.
Bethan is the tea brains behind each blend - she was the first non-Chinese person to get a degree in Tea Science from the University of Fujian, in Fuzhou, China, where she lived and worked. She speaks Mandarin and has learnt over 20 years, how to make a delicious cup of tea. She has 2 gorgeous children now, and many more 'tea babies'.
Organically Blended and Packed in the UK
We source the herbs in our teas from all over the globe, but they are 100% organic, and all blended to Bethan's recipes in the UK. They are packed in the UK too, using solar power, to keen their carbon footprint as low as possible.
Plastic Free, Biodegradable Packaging
Our tea bags are derived from sugar cane, and the bags we pack them into is derived from woodpulp. There are no plastics in any of our packaging and the boxes we use are 100% recyclable. All our inks are food safe and we are committed to ensure our teas are easy to drink, but have no negative impact on the environment.
