Tea to support Men's Health
International Men's Health Week takes place every year the week before Father's Day.
At HotTea Mama our tea blends contain natural herbs and botanicals, that have been used for millennia to support women's health, but they can also be beneficial in supporting men's health and wellness.
Green Tea & White tea
Studies have shown that green tea can be beneficial to Men's health in the following ways:
- cardiovascular protection
- cholesterol management
- possible neuroprotective effects
Some research has also shown that regular consumption of green tea may also have positive effects on the prostate gland. However, this is based on research that connects it to protection against prostate cancer, and not prostate enlargement.
But the research that has been done has found that men consistantly included green tea in their daily diet showed improved urine flow, decreased prostate inflammation, and improvements in quality of life within a couple of months.
Despite the lack of extensive research, green tea has known chemoprotective properties, and is packed with antioxidants.
Head Start is a delicately sweet blend of white tea and rose petals, with a slow-release of caffeine and anti-oxidants. It's carefully blended with all natural and organic ingredients, to give you a lift whenever you need it.
Hibiscus tea
Hibiscus tea has numerous health benefits, including lowering blood pressure. It is high in antioxidants, such as flavonoids and anthocyanins, which can help to protect the body against damage from harmful free radicals. Oxidative stress and inflammation can contribute to high blood pressure, and the antioxidant properties of hibiscus may help reduce these factors.
Some studies have found that hibiscus can also promote vasodilation, which is the widening of blood vessels. This effect may be attributed to the plant's ability to increase the production of nitric oxide, a molecule that relaxes and dilates blood vessels, thereby reducing blood pressure.
Get Up & Glow contains hibiscus which gives the blend its bright red colour, and imparts a tart sweetness that will wake up your palate. It is our caffeine free boost, with grapes as its base to help you to beat the caffeine crash.
Chamomile & Valerian tea
Chamomile contains apigenin, an antioxidant that binds to certain receptors in your brain that may promote sleepiness, and reduce insomnia, or the inability to sleep.
A study found that people who consumed chamomile extract twice daily for 28 days had 1/3 less night time awakening, and fell asleep 15 minutes faster than those who did not consume the extract.
Valerian root is often referred to as “nature’s Valium,” and has been used since the Middle Ages to treat sleep disorders.
It has also been linked to helping reduce mood symptoms such as anxiety. Valerian contains a number of compounds that may help promote calmness by increasing GABA availability in the body and interacting with certain receptors involved in mood and sleep.
Night Owl contains a carefully balanced blend of natural ingredients, including chamomile and valerian root, linked to easing stress, promoting sleep and calm.
